🔗 Correlation
Correlation is just Covariance put on a standardized scale from -1.0 to 1.0.
📏 The Scale
- +1.0: Perfect Positive lockstep.
- -1.0: Perfect Negative lockstep.
- 0.0: Pure random noise.
🐍 Python Implementation
pandas makes finding correlations across a whole dataset incredibly easy!
import pandas as pd
data = {
'Ice_Cream': [10, 20, 30, 40],
'Sunburns': [2, 4, 6, 8],
'Coats': [100, 80, 50, 20]
}
df = pd.DataFrame(data)
# Calculate Correlation Matrix
print(df.corr())
# Notice Ice_Cream and Coats have a negative correlation near -1.0!
