Consistency Models

In distributed systems, a consistency model specifies a contract between the programmer and a system, wherein the system guarantees that if the programmer follows the rules, data will be consistent.

Common Models​

  • Strict Consistency: Any read returns the most recent write.
  • Sequential Consistency: Operations appear in some sequential order.
  • Causal Consistency: Operations that are causally related appear in order.
